Born in 1957 in San Pedro California. Denise was active as a child and studied gymnastics at the age of 12. She earned a field athlete scholarship to the University of Arizona. She then transferred to California State University in Long Beach where she graduated in 1979. She holds a degree in physical education with an emphasis in exercise physiology. Denise began teaching aerobics after graduating from college and even co-hosted a fitness show with Jack La Lanne. That led to her starting her own show in 1983.

Denise is married to Jeff Austin, brother to tennis star Tracey Austin, and has 2 children. She has produced her own fitness show for both ESPN and its sister station Lifetime TV. Denise's daily TV show offers low impact aerobic and toning sessions, where she brings the workout sessions to you. She acts as a "personal trainer" to the millions who watch her shows and exercise videos. In addition to her workouts Denise encourages a healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet. She often includes eating and lifestyle tips in her sessions. People of all ages and all fitness levels can perform Denise's workouts. She allows you to work at your own pace in the comfort of your own home.

Denise has created over 50 exercise videos, written 8 fitness books and hosts two-exercise television programs. Her bestselling videos include power yoga, ultimate fat burner and Pilates for everybody. She also was recently appointed to President Bush's Council of Physical Fitness (news). Denise is also a dedicated mother and wife and is a good example of someone who finds a way to balance a busy life and active lifestyle.

Denise believes staying young involves regular exercise, a healthy diet, and a positive attitude. She incorporates her daily exercise workouts into her busy lifestyle.
